The Insurance Brief

Welcome to The Insurance Brief

September 30, 2026 · Issue #1 · 3 min read

Hey, I'm Zack. Thanks for reading the very first issue of The Insurance Brief.

Here's the deal: insurance is one of the biggest bills most families pay, and almost nobody understands what they're buying. The industry doesn't help, either. The language is dense, the fine print is fine for a reason, and most people's "annual review" is a renewal notice they never open.

So twice a week, I'll send you a short email that cuts through all of it:

One thing to check today

Pull up your auto policy and look at your deductibles. A lot of people are sitting on a $250 deductible they set years ago. Bumping it to $500 or $1,000 often cuts the premium enough to pay for itself within a year, as long as you have that amount set aside for a rainy day. If you're not sure, reply to this email or call me and I'll run the math with you.

What I'm watching this week

Fall is renewal season for a lot of carriers, which means rate filings are landing. If your renewal notice shows a jump and nothing changed on your end, don't just accept it. That's exactly the moment to shop it, and it's what I do all day. Send me your declarations page and I'll tell you straight whether you can do better.

Want a second set of eyes on your policy?

It takes about 60 seconds to start. I'll shop the carriers and show you your options in plain English.
